• Started the freezer on a one-hour defrost to begin melting down the accumulated ice on the coils.
• Confirmed the unit was running and pulling back toward setpoint before leaving.

One honest note we left with the operator: with that much ice built up, the evaporator may need an additional defrost run to fully clear. That is normal after a heavy freeze-up, and it is far cheaper than the alternative of leaving a buried coil to ice over again.
