A Waco nursing home called when its walk-in cooler went down with the evaporator coil frosted over. Clay confirmed the solenoid was functioning and cycling the unit off, then traced the frost to a missing control: the system had no defrost timer installed. With nothing scheduling defrost periods, ice kept building on the coil until the box could no longer hold temperature. A new defrost timer was installed and set for four defrost periods a day, and the cooler came back online and cooling properly. An estimate has been submitted to replace a door and a fan blade.
