Ice Buildup Behind a Walk-In Evaporator at a Waco Restaurant 06.17.26
A Waco restaurant called in June 2026 after ice began building up behind its walk-in evaporator. Clay traced the ice to the wall penetration where the liquid line enters the box. The penetration had not been sealed properly, so warm, humid air was leaking in and freezing on the cold line and coil. He sealed that penetration, then sealed several other spots that looked like possible leak points. With the air infiltration stopped, he put the system into defrost to clear the frosted coils. Air leaks at line penetrations are a common cause of iced-up evaporators and are worth checking before replacing parts. For walk-in refrigeration service, call 254-272-2714.
