Backwards Rooftop Crankcase Regulator at a Waco Research Facility 09.16.26

A Waco research facility called in September 2026 about a low-temperature chamber whose rooftop crankcase pressure regulator had been installed backwards. Clay pumped down the suction line, removed the regulator and re-oriented it, checked for restrictions, evacuated the lines, and restarted the system. After letting it run overnight, he returned and found the expansion valve set inaccurately, causing the system to pump down and cycle on low pressure. He added about 18 lbs of R-448A, adjusted the valve, repositioned its sensing bulb, re-insulated the suction line, and reset the low pressure control. The chamber was at minus 25 degrees and falling when he left. For commercial refrigeration service, call 254-272-2714. Texian Cold is licensed Texas TACLA89963C and R290 Certified.
