Replaced a Grounded Compressor on a Clifton Restaurant AC Unit
A Clifton restaurant lost cooling on a packaged air conditioning unit after the breaker tripped and would not hold on a call for cooling. Lead technician Clay ran an insulation resistance test at the compressor terminals and confirmed the motor windings had grounded to the housing, a failure with no repair path. He recovered the refrigerant, removed the compressor, contactor, run capacitor and filter/drier, and replaced all four.
