Glycol Chiller Repair & Service in Waco, TX

April 6, 2026 — Waco, TX · Updated August 18, 2026
Glycol chiller systems are the quiet workhorses behind some of Central Texas’s most temperature-sensitive operations. From microbreweries managing fermentation cycles to bars running long draft trunk lines to frozen yogurt shops keeping product at the perfect consistency, a glycol chiller failure can mean spoiled product, lost revenue, and a stressful day. Texian Cold provides glycol chiller repair, service, maintenance, and installation across the Heart of Texas region.
What Is a Glycol Chiller & Why Does It Matter?
A glycol chiller uses a mixture of glycol and water circulated through a closed-loop system to absorb and remove heat from tanks, vessels, and production lines. Because glycol lowers the freezing point of water, these systems can operate at colder temperatures without freezing — making them ideal for precise, consistent cooling in commercial and industrial settings.
Industries that commonly rely on glycol chillers include:
- Microbreweries and craft beverage producers
- Bars and restaurants running draft beer systems
- Wineries and vineyards
- Frozen yogurt and dessert operations
- Food and beverage production facilities
- Pharmaceutical and medical facilities
- Dairies and cold processing plants
Common Glycol Chiller Problems We Diagnose & Repair
Glycol systems can develop a range of issues that affect temperature stability and efficiency. Our technicians are experienced in diagnosing and repairing problems including:
- System not holding proper temperature
- Low glycol levels or incorrect mixture ratio
- Pump and circulation failures
- Compressor or condenser issues

- Sensor and control system malfunctions
If your system is losing efficiency, running warm, leaking, or showing unusual behavior, the sooner you call, the better the outcome for your product and your bottom line.
Case File: A Seized Circulating Pump on a Waco Glycol Loop — August 2026
A Waco restaurant called in with the glycol running hot. The refrigeration side of the power pack was not the complaint — the complaint was warm product at the far end of the loop, which is a very different problem with a very different cause.
Clay opened the cabinet and found the circulating pump seized. Once that pump stops, the closed loop stops. The chiller can still be making cold, but none of it is moving out to the trunk line, the tanks, or the cold plate, so the loop temperature climbs and the operator sees warm product long before the equipment throws any kind of fault.
The fix was a replacement carbonator-style pump motor — the rotary-vane pump design that serves as the standard circulator on this class of glycol power pack, not a substitution or a workaround. With the new motor in, flow returned to the loop and the system went back to cycling normally.
Two things worth pulling out of this call for any operator running a glycol system:
- A warm loop is not always a refrigeration problem. Compressor, charge, and condenser all get checked first out of habit, but a dead circulator produces the same symptom and costs a lot less to fix if it is caught early.
- Pumps give warning. Bearing noise, a hot pump housing, or a loop that takes longer than usual to recover after a busy service are all worth a call before the pump locks up mid-shift.
Glycol running warm and taking product with it? Call 254-272-2714. We run same-day and 24/7 commercial service across the Heart of Texas — a dead circulating pump on a Friday afternoon is not a Monday problem.
Glycol Chiller Service for Breweries & Production Operations
In brewing operations, glycol systems play a critical role at multiple stages — cooling wort after the boil, controlling fermentation temperatures, and maintaining product storage. An inconsistent or failed glycol system can compromise an entire batch. Texian Cold services brewery glycol chiller systems to help keep production on schedule.
For wineries, smoothie and beverage equipment, draft systems, and frozen dessert operations, we provide both repair and ongoing maintenance plans to reduce the risk of unexpected downtime.
New Glycol Chiller Installation & Ongoing Maintenance
Beyond repairs, Texian Cold handles new glycol chiller installations for businesses setting up or expanding their operations. We also offer preventative maintenance plans to keep your system running efficiently year-round and catch small issues — a noisy pump, a low glycol level, a drifting setpoint — before they become costly emergencies.
If your operation is expanding or you’re replacing an aging system, our team can help you select and install the right glycol chiller for your application.
